Two big appointments announced earlier today: President Barack Obama announced this morning that he is nominating Ben Bernanke to serve a second term as chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Separately, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Mary L. Schapiro announced earlier today that Acting Chief Accountant Jim Kroeker has been named Chief Accountant of the SEC. Read Schapiro's and Kroeker's remarks in the SEC press release.
